Iowa Engineering Society Names Tollakson 2006 Anson Marston Recipient
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (April 19, 2006) – The Iowa Engineering Society (IES) named Hubbell Realty Company’s President and CEO Rick Tollakson as recipient of the 2006 Anson Marston Award. The award is designed to recognize an individual who has provided outstanding service to the society and to the engineering profession. Tollakson joined IES in 1980 where he was involved in two of the IES chapters. He has served in every capacity on the state level executive committee, including being president of the Society in 1996. After serving in the top position of the Society, Rick volunteered to serve as the national director to the National Society of Professional Engineers. Rick was one of IES’s longest serving national directors and a strong advocate on state issues. “For nearly twenty-five years, Rick has given to his profession and this organization,” states IES President Dave Scott. “Those people who see beyond what an organization can do for their career or for their own self-interest are a rarity. Those individuals who stand up to help because they know it is the right thing to do typifies what the Anson Marston Award is all about – outstanding service to the engineering Society.” Tollakson joined Hubbell Realty Company in 1984 and holds a Construction Engineering degree from Iowa State University and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa. In 2004, Tollakson was named President and CEO. During his career with Hubbell, Tollakson has been involved in the development of such commercial projects as RiverPoint Business Park, Lakeview Medical Park, Ankeny Business Park and Birchwood Crossing. His residential projects include Copper Creek Golf Course Community, SummerBrook, Johnston Commons, Bristol Cove and the Legacy Golf Course Community. Under Tollakson’s leadership, companies such as Hubbell Renovations and Hubbell Homes were formed.
