Hubbell Breaks Ground for Brownstones on Grand
DES MOINES, Iowa (May 15, 2006) – Hubbell Realty Company broke ground on Wednesday, May 10th for the Brownstones on Grand, a new townhome project located at 2nd Avenue and Grand in downtown Des Moines. City council members Christine Hensley and Bob Mahaffey, along with Tim Leach of the Downtown Community Alliance helped turn the ceremonial dirt to mark the occasion. The Brownstones on Grand is a 43-unit project located between 2nd and 3rd Streets on Grand. These three-story brownstones have a contemporary urban look and are equipped with geothermal heating and cooling, giving residents a monthly energy savings of nearly $163. Units feature walkup front steps reminiscent of the East Coast style brownstones and over 2,000 square feet of living space. Designed by the national award-winning firm Bloodgood Sharp Buster Architects, the 43-unit project features three optional floor plans all complete with a two-car attached garage, two-plus bath, a second story balcony and rooftop garden. Homebuyers can choose from a two-bedroom plan with an optional den or bedroom on the ground floor, or a three-bedroom plan with a den. The Brownstones on Grand are also pet friendly with greenspace for dogs. Located in the heart of downtown, the Brownstones on Grand are nestled among the best attractions Des Moines has to offer. Located between 2nd and 3rd Streets on Grand, the Brownstones are within blocks of the Des Moines Civic Center and two blocks from the new Principal Riverwalk.
