HUBBELL REALTY COMPANY BREAKS GROUND IN JOHNSTON
West Des Moines, IA (August 17, 2015) – Hubbell Realty Company celebrated the start of construction for a new apartment community called Cadence in Johnston today. Cadence is a prime example of urban infill, with a little over 8 acres being transformed into 195 market rate apartment homes. It will offer 64 one-bedroom, 97 two-bedroom and 34 three-bedroom units and include a large two-story community room with a kitchen, an internet café, a media room and access to the pool and patio. A second-story fitness room will overlook the pool.
“Public/private partnerships like this are fun to do,” explained Rick Tollakson, CEO and president of Hubbell Realty Company. “The City of Johnston identified this land as an infill area where they could bring new development to the heart of their community and Hubbell is pleased to help make it a reality.”
Cadence introduces an urban façade to the streetscape of Johnston, creating what many in the industry are calling an “urbanburb.” Additionally, the variety of options includes larger master suites, taller ceilings, more open living space and upgrades finishes. Approximately 15 percent of the units will have executive finishes with penthouse lofts on the top floor.
“City leadership has worked on this project for several years with the hopes to bring a new type of development to our city,” said Paula Dierenfeld, Mayor of Johnston. “Cadence provides another type of housing option that will appeal to new residents wanting to make Johnston their home.”
Mac Braun, representing the Johnston Chamber of Commerce, publicly thanked Hubbell Realty Company for its continued interest in developing in Johnston. “Hubbell has made diverse investments in our community, from single-family housing and assisted living to business parks and now apartments. We appreciate the role they have played in building our community.”
Cadence is a $26.3 million project and is scheduled to open in late 2016.
