HUBBELL FINISHES WEEK-LONG BUILD AT EASTER SEALS IOWA’S CAMP SUNNYSIDE

West Des Moines, IA (September 24, 2013) – Just 176 hours after the project started, Cabins for Campers 24/7 wrapped up with a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday, September 23, at 2:00 pm. Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds, Polk County Supervisor Tom Hockensmith, Hubbell Realty Company President and CEO Rick Tollakson and Easter Seals Iowa President and CEO Sherri Nielsen, along with hundreds of trade partners, volunteers, Hubbell Realty Company associates, Easter Seals staff members and Camp Sunnyside campers and supporters, cut the ceremonial ribbon, declaring the cabins officially ready for camper use. Camp Sunnyside will host its first Respite Camp in the new cabins this weekend.

“The Cabins for Campers extreme build shows how neighbors can come together to help each other,” said Reynolds. “Projects like this are part of what makes Iowa great.” Tollakson thanked his team and all of the trade partners and volunteers who made the event possible. “Over 2,000 people put a lot of hours into this, and we couldn’t be more proud of the finished product,” commented Tollakson. Nielsen choked back tears as she thanked everyone and shared with the crowd how the new cabins will truly change the Easter Seals Iowa camp experience. “At Camp Sunnyside, we provide wonderful services, and now our facilities will reflect that same great quality. Our beautiful new cabins include much-needed attached shower facilities and are accessible and safe. This is a dream come true,” stated Nielsen.

Hubbell Realty Company and its partners built two 7500+ square foot cabins at Easter Seals Iowa’s Camp Sunnyside, working around the clock for one week. The new cabins have new beds and lockers, storm shelters and energy-efficient heating and cooling systems. They also have accessible features, which will improve the camp experience for campers and counselors alike.
