Des Moines, Iowa (November 20, 2015) – Hubbell Realty Company president and CEO Rick Tollakson, joined by Des Moines mayor Frank Cownie, Downtown Chamber president Kris Maggard, and members of the community welcomed Chicago Dog, owned and operated by Lisa and Joseph Keena, to downtown Des Moines Friday afternoon in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
With Phase I of the Cityville project complete, and high daytime traffic in and out of downtown Des Moines, this is a great location for a one-of-a-kind dining establishment. “This commercial space is a hot commodity,” explained Tollakson. “A business-savvy entrepreneur or service provider knows that a new neighborhood like Cityville creates its own micro-economy, which allows small businesses to thrive on both the interaction with the neighborhood audience and the drive-by customer.”
Chicago Dog, occupying almost 1,600 sq. ft., is the second tenant to move into the Phase I commercial space available at Cityville. There is a total of 12,000 sq. ft. in Phase I. When completed, Cityville will offer approximately 50,000 square feet of commercial space and over 300 residential units.
“We are so excited to be here and to be a part of the Des Moines downtown community,” said Lisa Kenna, co-owner of Chicago Dog.
Hubbell Realty Company and Persimmon Capital Partners pioneered a new neighborhood concept with the Cityville on 9th development. The mixed-use, multi-family and commercial development is located on 10.5 acres south of MLK Parkway and is a three-phase project, with 111 apartment homes, a trendy clubhouse and 12,000 square feet of commercial space already complete.
Chicago Dog is open 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
