West Des Moines, IA (February 3, 2012) – Riverpoint Lofts, an urban apartment community located in downtown’s renovated Schmitt and Henry Manufacturing Company factory, more commonly known as the Sealy Building, celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, February 2.

At the grand opening, speakers included Des Moines Mayor T. M. Franklin Cownie, Downtown Community Alliance Director of Economic Development Tim Leach, East and South Des Moines Chambers of Commerce President Pat Beckerdite, special guest and former Schmitt and Henry Manufacturing Company employee Herbert Rankin, and Hubbell Construction Services Senior Project Manager Casey Port.  Members of the Downtown Community Alliance, Iowa Finance Authority and East and South Des Moines Chambers of Commerce helped Hubbell Construction Services and Hubbell Apartment Living representatives cut the ceremonial ribbon to mark the occasion.

“This building holds over 100 years of history preserved in loft style homes.  There has been an outstanding amount of enthusiasm surrounding the Riverpoint Lofts renovation project and the opportunity to live in a unique downtown property,” stated Krista Capp, Hubbell Realty Company Vice President Property Management. “With 70 of our 91 units already leased, we feel this excitement for downtown living will remain strong.”

Riverpoint Lofts balances original architectural elements with contemporary design to create affordable 1 and 2 bedroom lofts. The 91 lofts in the community range from 526 square feet to over 1,400 square feet. Exposed historic features, brickwork, wooden beams, antique fire doors, soaring ceilings, modern paint schemes and skyline views add distinctive character to each and every loft. This community offers amenities unique to downtown living including a rooftop patio, community garden and video game room as well as a business center and internet lounge, community room and fitness center.

Riverpoint Lofts, a $10 million project, was renovated by Hubbell Construction Services and is managed by Hubbell Apartment Living. The community is located at 340 SW 7th Street, Des Moines, IA 50309. For more information, visit www.hubbellapartments.com.
