Joe Pietruszynski has extensive knowledge of land development from his 20-plus years as a land developer, real estate broker, and certified land planner.
At Hubbell Realty Company, Joe is the Executive Vice President of Construction, Development and Management and is responsible for all aspects of commercial, multifamily and commercial land development, as well as Hubbell Construction Services, including land acquisition and sales, financial cost analysis and control, management of construction activities, site compliance, and working with public agencies through the land entitlement and planning process.
Currently, Joe oversees the development and management of more than 30 commercial, industrial and residential developments in the Des Moines metropolitan area. In his career at Hubbell, he has developed over 4,000 single-family lots, 1,700 townhome lots, and over 400 acres of commercial, industrial, and multi-family land. One of Joe’s most notable commercial land transactions was to Facebook in Altoona.
Joe was instrumental in developing the first conservation community in Iowa, as well as Hubbell’s five other conservation communities throughout the Des Moines metro. He has been a leader in successful land development techniques that clean, store, and protect storm water.
Joe has been a lead project manager on several major charitable projects including ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” in Gladbrook, Iowa; Hubbell’s “9 Homes in 9 Days” project for Anawim Housing at 21st Street and Forest Avenue in Des Moines; and the Greater Des Moines Leadership Class of 2007-2008’s project for the Kiwanis Miracle League at Principal Park. In 2013, Joe worked as a project leader for the construction of new cabins at Easter Seals Iowa’s Camp Sunnyside, allowing a comfortable and safe place for people with disabilities to enjoy camp, where Joe now serves as an Easter Seals Board Member. In 2017, Joe was a responsible for land development requirements for a 11 day rebuild of the Ronald McDonald House next to Blank Children’s Hospital.
