Derek Haugen serves as Vice President of Indigo Living, Hubbell’s multifamily property management division, where he leads all operational functions across a portfolio of nearly 10,000 apartment homes spanning three states. In this role, Derek provides strategic oversight of daily operations, including budgeting, staffing, policy development, and marketing initiatives. Since joining the organization, he has played a pivotal role in driving Indigo Living’s exponential growth over the past decade, with a steadfast focus on client success and long-term partnerships.

Promoted to Vice President in June 2022, Derek brings a deep understanding of the business rooted in hands-on experience. He began his career with Hubbell in 2009 as the on-site manager of Somerset, a 331-unit market-rate community in Des Moines. His strong leadership and results quickly led to a promotion to Regional Manager in 2012, where he oversaw more than 1,700 apartment homes throughout the Des Moines metro area. During this time, Derek specialized in securing and maintaining third-party management contracts, onboarding new-construction communities, and expanding single-family rental portfolios.
