Velocity is a 115-unit apartment community in Des Moines’ Bridge District neighborhood, north of the East Village. As the second apartment community completed within Bridge District, Velocity helped bring the neighborhood’s total apartment count to nearly 250 downtown rental units while adding a distinct, urban residential option just steps from the East Village, downtown Des Moines, and the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. The community featured high-level finishes and a range of floorplans, from efficient studio apartments to spacious three-bedroom, three-bath layouts with more than 1,500 square feet.

Expanding Bridge District Experience

Hubbell developed Velocity to build on the momentum of Bridge District with an amenity-rich community designed for downtown living. The building offered heated indoor parking, indoor bike storage and repair, walk-up apartment units, a dog washing station, two fitness centers, an indoor-outdoor yoga studio, and community spaces on every floor. Signature amenities included a lounge pool with cabana, two-story pool house, and a two-story community room with a rooftop patio offering 360-degree views of downtown Des Moines, including the Iowa State Capitol. Through its edgy urban design, walkable location, and robust amenity package, Velocity reinforced Hubbell’s ability to create distinctive multifamily communities that elevate the resident experience and strengthen larger neighborhood development.
