Edencrest at Beaverdale is an 80-unit senior living community located in the heart of Des Moines’ historic Beaverdale neighborhood. Originally opened in 2017 with 60 assisted living and memory care apartments, the community offered residents a full spectrum of support in a familiar, close-knit neighborhood setting near family and friends. The first floor included 30 apartments, shared community spaces, a library, beauty and barber salon, game room, and bistro lounge, while the lower-level memory care apartments were organized into smaller “neighborhoods” to create a more personal and supportive environment.
Investing in a Beloved Neighborhood
Hubbell developed and built Edencrest at Beaverdale to bring high-quality senior living into one of Des Moines’ most established neighborhoods, then expanded the community with a 20-apartment addition in 2020. The more than $4 million expansion brought the community to 80 total apartments and introduced a unique independent senior living option, including 10 apartments with full kitchens, the only homes of their kind in the Edencrest portfolio. With amenities including family dining rooms, life enrichment activities, complimentary transportation, an in-house spa, exercise room, and beauty and barber salon, Edencrest at Beaverdale demonstrated Hubbell’s ability to thoughtfully expand specialized housing in response to strong neighborhood support and resident demand.
