I'm Zach Scheckel and I am the Property Research Analyst for CBRE | Hubbell Commercial, a brokerage division of Hubbell Realty Company. I've been in the real estate property analyst position for a few years, where I research market conditions and trends as well as analyze internal databases to assist companies and various clients. 

 

 

What drew you to apply at Hubbell?

“What drew me to apply was not only the name recognition as an industry leader, but also a community leader as well. They have a large presence in the De Moines area, and everyone knows the name for good reason for being that leader and having that presence.

What do you enjoy most about your job as a research analyst?

“I provide research support for all of our associates. What I like most is it’s cross-functional with all departments from construction to development to brokerage to property management. I get to see how the company is doing from all aspects. It’s challenging but rewarding at the same time. I’m going from department to department, so I learn a lot just doing my job and get to know a lot of people from a lot of different areas within the real estate industry.”

What Hubbell core value speaks to you most?

“I think the most common is ONE Hubbell, but it’s true. I have to ask favors of people all the time - some people that I work with once a month - and 100 percent of the time they’re always more than willing to go out of their everyday duties, tasks or responsibilities to help. At the end of the day we have the same goal, even if we’re doing different things during the day, and everyone’s just more than willing to help when need be.”

What advice would you give someone applying with Hubbell?

“I would say transparency and don’t say what you “think they want to hear.” I think our Human Resources department does a good job of vetting candidates and figuring out if you would be a great fit for our company. No one wants to work for a company where you don’t fit the culture and just get by day-to-day. I think our HR hiring process is extremely smooth and transparent and I encourage you to be transparent.”
