Indigo Living's Rental Options; Prime Locations, Ideal Amenities

Choosing the perfect type of rental home can be confusing, especially with an overwhelming number of options. Indigo Living is proud to provide a variety of rental options all around Des Moines and it’s neighboring cities, as well as South Dakota (check out Penbrooke Place, Creekstone Falls, and Autumn Park). Here’s your guide to the different types of rental homes that Indigo Living offers, from apartment communities to attached townhomes, and everything in-between.

Attached Townhomes

Exactly as it sounds, an attached townhome is connected (attached) to another townhome, sharing at least one wall with the adjacent homes. These homes provide a little bit more autonomy than many other options, often coming with an attached garage and private entry. Usually, this type of rental home comes with 2 or more bedrooms spanning one or two floors. Attached townhome communities like those at our Centennial Crossing community come with many of the same amenities as an apartment community (dog park, clubhouse, and outdoor pool). Attached townhomes are fit for a variety of living situations, but are often occupied by families due to their larger size and private orientation.

Apartment Homes

Apartment homes are more of a community feel with one building housing multiple apartment homes with amenities shared by all residents! This style of home generally has 1-2 bedrooms (we’ll get to the larger apartment homes later) and the same number of bathrooms, being located on one of several floors in the building. Indigo has a variety of apartment communities in Ankeny, West Des Moines, Downtown Des Moines, Norwalk, and more. These communities all come with a variety of amenities, from gyms and pools to dog parks and mailrooms.

First Floor-Walk Ups

First floor-walk ups are apartment homes that share much in common with apartment homes, even being attached to the same building, but first floor-walk ups have a private entrance, allowing a bit more seclusion, and just as they sound, they are only located on the first-floor of an apartment community. Apartment communities with first-floor walk ups include LINC at Gray’s Station, 7th Street Brownstones, and 5Fifty5.

3–4-Apartment Homes

Speaking of homes in apartment communities, 3-4-bedroom larger floor plans are larger apartment homes located in these same communities. The key difference is the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Our larger floor plans have 3 or more bedrooms and often the same number of bathrooms. These plans are suited for larger groups of people (often families) and are sometimes split between two floors, with a staircase in the home. In the case of a 2 floor larger apartment home, the bedrooms are often located on the upper floor, and the communal spaces are on the first level.

Micros in Downtown

Micro apartments are the final rendition of apartment homes, fit generally for solo or couple living. These micros are most often studio style apartment homes, meaning that there is one room with the bedroom and living space, often separated by a half wall or creative floor plans, and a bathroom. Micro apartment homes are also located in the apartment communities featuring many of the different styles of apartment homes, and accordingly come with all of the same amenities as the other apartment home options.

There you have it, all of Indigo Living’s rental home options, ranging from the most compact of micros to the sprawling spacious floor plans that include 4+ bedrooms. With options fit for a bachelor or a family.
